Cadbury World – The newest Merlin Attraction

When Merlin announced Cadbury World would be included in our annual pass access we were pretty excited. That was until I went to book it back in November and the first weekend date we could book was id February! Hopefully when the initial interest dies down this will become easier to book!

Cadbury World is located in Bournville Birmingham. It is on many public transport routes, a short walk from Bournville train station and has ample free parking on site.

There are a couple of different ticket options;

Anytime entry ticket : from £26 but you can enter anytime on your prebooked date.
Standard entry ticket : Children from £18.95 and adults from £23

They also have add on’s such as afternoon tea and multi attraction tickets find out more here

You can book your tickets to Cadbury World here or find out more about Merlin Annual Passes where Cadbury World is included as part of the Merline group of attractions.

Your entry ticket includes your chocolate factory tour, a visit to the 4D cinema, a ride on Cadabra (or the new ride replacing this shortly) and access to the Cadbury Cafe and Factory shop.

You can also use the adventure playground and outdoor picnic areas where the 4D cinema is located.

Each guest gets some free chocolate on the way in, we got a Twirl, Curly Wurly, Whisper and Crunchies. These little Cadbury bags are £1 each (it’s the perfect size to take my lunch to work!)

The first section you walk through goes through the ages with the history of chocolate in general. To be honest the kids weren’t the least bit interested in this section and Holly didn’t like the smell of it either.

Each area had an info board with more information about it, I managed to get Holly to read a few, but lets be honest, they are just here to eat chocolate!

Next you get to watch a short video that tells you all about the history of Cadbury and Cadbury World. It was nice to see this was also available in sign language to make it more accessible to all.

The Cadabra ride is a short ride which follows the adventures of the cocoa beans. I think this is being retired soon and to be honest it’s probably about time as it was originally opened at Cadbury World in 1997.

Heres a little bit of a preview of what to expect.

You can catch the chocolate demo just before you head through for your chocolate tasting. The lady doing the demo was great and talked through loads of the techniques they use.

Another perk on your Cadbury World tour is Chocolate tasting and let’s face it, that’s what we are all here for really.

You get a pot of melted Cadbury Dairy Milk with a choice of toppings (various crushed up chocolate bars or marshmallows.

It was delicious although very small! Holly still managed to end up wearing more than she managed to eat

This activity was so much fun, they have lower benchs for smaller visitors. You can write or draw whatever you like, but lets face it everyone just writes their name right?

And for those worried about wasted chocolate… It is all scopped back up and reused, no chocolately waste here!

At the end of your tour you’ll exit through the Cadbury World factory shop. Selling things such as seconds and bulk boxes of chocolate. There are some great deals to be had.

If you get peckish you’ll find the Cadbury World cafe in the main reception area. There are further food stalls outside near the 4d cinema experience.

Naturally you won’t be short of chocolately choices!

The Cadbury World Cafe has loads of different options and deals available. These were some of the ones I noticed around the factory tour.

Stepping outside of the main Cadbury World building you’ll discover the 4D Chocolate Adventure.

I think this was one of our favourite parts, jump in the magical elevator and take a ride to your 4D adventure. You get a pair of 3D glasses on the way in and the seats move throughout the movie.

Holly and Oscar absolutely loved it – I loved it because the 3D glasses went over my glasses so I could actually watch it!

Outside in front of the 4D cinema is the adventure playground. Filled with lots of things to keep the kids entertained so you can grab some food in peace!

We didn’t visit The Cabin but it is outside next to the adventure playground. They offer hot and cold drinks and snacks. You’ll find plenty of seating around this area too.

We have a Cadbury World passholder day coming up on April 21st to try out the new ride replacing Cadabra so I will be updating my post once we have been!
