I am a massive fan of anything that reduces waste (and makes my life easier) so I jumped at the chance to try out Wuka briefs. It was also recently announced that period underwear would be exempt from VAT making it even more affordable for all – hurrah!

These items were items in return for a review. I was not paid and all opinions are my own

WUKA was founded back in 2017 it is a female-led start up, making the UK’s first ever reusable and leak-proof period wear.

They chose the name WUKA which stands for Wake Up Kick Ass, because they believe you shouldn’t allow anything to hold you back, especially your period!

WUKA is Body Positive & Sustainable which touches and guides everything we do, make and say.

My order arrived in lovely pink tissue paper with this postcard inside which is a nice touch! The outer packaging is also branded, which although no bother to me I know can put some people off. So it’s worth a mention so you are aware!

I got 2 pairs – WUKA Ultimate™ Midi Brief – Medium Flow and one of the newer designs WUKA Stretch Seamless Midi Brief Heavy.

Both pairs are super comfy and stretchy I also found them to be less bulky that some of the others I have tried previously.

What the website says about this pair;

They are available in 2 sizes, either XS-L or XL-4XL. I got the larger of the 2 and as a size 12/14 I probably could have got away with the smaller ones. I’m not convinced they would stretch to a 4Xl without being completely see through but they were comfortable enough.

Absolutely! I think everyone should try period pants, they are also great for bladder weakness especially for us run/joggers!

Do period pants / underwear need to be hand washed?

No (although you can if you want of course!) you can wash them ar 30° (some can also be washed at 40°) Just make sure you follow the washing instructions on the label.

How long do period pants / underwear last?

This will depend on how often you use them and how well you care for them. Wuka briefs can replace up to 200 disposable sanitary products. I have found most of mine have lasted around a year with multiple washes during each cycle.
