Five Little Tricks That Enhance Your Garden’s Aesthetic

A garden is a lot of hard work, but it’s always worth it in the end. Having your own little oasis at your doorstep is a privilege that’s easy to forget to appreciate, but once you’ve put in the effort to get everything looking and feeling just how you like it, your outdoor space will come to represent the most enjoyable area of the house to spend time in.

Sometimes, though, even after getting everything sorted, there still feels to be something missing. In this short article, you’ll learn about five aesthetic touches that can make a big difference!

1. Lighting Additions

One of the biggest additions you can make is lighting, and naturally, this is an especially important consideration if you’re using your garden a lot at night.

Lighting isn’t just an essential asset for lighting the way; it’s possibly the biggest aesthetic alteration you can make, and there are so many different types. For example, outdoor lights festoon are great for creating a whimsical vibe, and post lanterns do a solid job of building texture.

2. Water Features

When people think of water features, they likely picture large, stone installations that cost a lot of money, but there are plenty of smaller, more subtle options.

Tabletop fountains look attractive but unobtrusive, and if you have a pond, there are plenty of discrete options to suit any kind of shape.

3. Vertical Planting

Vertical planting can create a unique, interesting look for the right garden. It’s easy to forget that you’ve got plenty of empty space to use on your walls – areas that are perfect for climbing plants.

This is also a great option if you only have a small amount of space. There’s plenty you can do if you have less room; you just have to get creative!

4. Using Traditional Planters

Planters are much more versatile than you think, and can be used in a number of different ways to add vibrancy to your space.

There are many shapes and sizes available and plenty of unique flower arrangements you could go for. You can also use flower baskets and containers to segment and define different areas of the garden, marking entrances, play areas, and seating zones with different colours.

Have a look on Pinterest or YouTube for inspiration and see what you can come up with.

5. Garden Pathways

In many ways, your pathways are the unsung heroes of your garden.

Your original pathways can be improved by adding small paving lights or solar-powered lanterns to illuminate the way, and you can make a huge difference to the look of the garden by changing your paving slabs to gravel, bricks to slabs, or whatever other stylistic choice fits in with the rest of the area.

Similarly to the way you can arrange flowers to mark certain areas, pathways are an excellent way of creating structure and theme in a garden through division.

Wrapping Up

The finishing touches can be the most enjoyable part of designing your garden, and it may only take a couple of hanging baskets here and a few strings of fairy lights there, to totally bring the place alive. Have fun experimenting!
