I think we may have found our new favourite Merlin accomodation! I have been a long time champion of Chessingtons hotels but I think Legoland Woodland Lodges may have just snuck into my top spot.
Finding the parking was a bit tricky as you have to drive right round to almost where it felt like you were driving straight back out. But there is plenty of parking available and you can leave your car there the following day while you go to the park too which is just across the car park.
Check in is done either using the check in screens (which is how we checked in) or you can go to the reception desk if you prefer. The machine dispenses your keys which are these cute little wooden key cards.
Legoland Woodland Lodge
Our lodge felt like one of the furthest away from the clubhouse but the area isn’t massive so it was still only around 5-10 minutes to walk round to it.
The accomodations are laid out in little groups of 7 buildings (each one with 2 lodges) each with their own play equipment in the middle of the grassy area between. It is a really good set up as the kids could play while we unpacked and they were always in view of our lodge.
Each lodge also has a small porch area with a table and seating, which would be lovely in the summer.
These wooden do not disturb signs were cute and also a nice welcome letter and a challenge for the kids. They needed to complete the treasure hunt to unlock the safe in the bedroom, similar to the Chessington rooms.
Main Bedroom
As you would expect with Legoland everything was very colourful but I loved the detail (although Holly was convinced the owl was a security camera)
The TV displays your name and has loads of information available about the resort etc along with the normal tv channels. We also had a small fridge.
Childrens sleeping area
The childrens sleeping area is a curtained off section with a bunk bed and pull out bed.
In total this lodge sleeps 5, but the pull out bed does take up pretty much all the floor space so it is a bit more cramped than the Chessington equivilent if you have a full house.
We struggled with the treasure hunt but eventually got into the safe with a bit of guesswork and uncovered the secret stash of goodies. They did leave enough so each child got their own set which was nice.
It included a Legoland lanyard, a junior Legoland ranger handbook packed with things to do and a small lego set which could be made into 3 different figures.
Bathroom
The bathroom was small but had everything we needed, I do prefer a bath but don’t think this is an option in these lodges due to the limited space. Towels are also included.
Clubhouse Restaurant
We did check out the menu online beforehand so were prepared for it to be very expensive. But we were happy to pay for the convenience of not having to hunt down somewhere else to eat. You can also have food delivered and meet the drivers at the clubhouse reception if you prefer.
The food was fine, the childrens portions were quite big so we could have just had those! The pizzas also did look big enough to share if you can all agree on the same one…
Desserts were also ok, the cocktails however are not worth the money, this was basically just foamy water and quite possibly the worst pina colada I have ever had.
Lego Builder Daily Competition
Each day they have a mini legobuilder competition where you can build a model (or multiples if you wanted) and leave them on the shelf with your name and room number and they choose a winner.
We got a text to say Chloe had won and to collect her prize from reception. She got a certificate and an exclusive pop badge.
Breakfast
Breakfast is in the clubhouse again and is a mix of buffet and ordering. The cold options are available for you to help yourself and you need to order the hot options.
The breakfast was actually really good and you get alot of food, it was so much better than dinner!
Clubhouse Areas
The clubhouse has an entertainment area where there were some staff doing stuff with the kids but ours just wanted to play outside. You also have the free play builder area in reception.
The play area is huge and the kids absolutely loved it. They also have a merch shop in reception with various Lego goodies.
Overall we had a really great stay here and we will definitely stay again especially in the Summer it will be lovely to sit at the clubhouse while the kids play outside.
You can find the latest Legoland Woodland Lodges rates on the Legoland website and check out my socials for any special offers / sales they might have.
Thanks for reading 🙂
