Blackpool for Adults – Childfree for the weekend

Gaz and I were very lucky to get a childfree weekend and decided to head back to Blackpool after having so much fun in August with the kids. Heres what we found in Blackpool for Adults to do

The Velvet Lounge (Wetherspoons)

No trip away is complete without a visit (or several in our case!) to a ‘spoons. We had dinner here on Friday and breakfast on Sunday.

It’s a standard Wetherspoons, you can order on the app or at the bar, loads of seating and quick service.

And yes I most certainly did have a children’s meal and a Pink gin! You’ll find this Wetherspoons towards the south end of the promenade near to the Pleasure Beach and Sandcastles Waterpark.

Yates

Up by the North pier you’ll find one of 2 Yates on the Blackpool Stretch. The other is located further down towards the South Pier and has loads of outdoor seating overlooking the beach.

With a mix current pop tunes and good old classics the music in here is great (well for us anyway!)

The drinks are also pretty cheap, they had a DJ on too which was great as he was taking requests.

Pop World

We love Pop World in Birmingham but this one didn’t quite meet our expectations.

It was absolutely packed with hen and stag parties (most of who were absolutely steaming drunk on arrival when it opened at 9pm) we didn’t stay in here too long!

I know we are in Blackpool and it is Hen / Stag party capital of the UK but I was still shocked – showing my age obviously

The toilets are in competition with Wetherspoons for the distance you have to walk, it involves lots of stairs so don’t break the seal here!

They also serve everything in plastic cups so, that was a No from me! It was so bad, I only took this 1 photo

Peggy’s Family Snack Bar Coral Island

Saturday morning we had breakfast here and its a pretty good deal.

It’s located to the back of Coral Island (You can’t miss that on the corner by the Sea Life Centre) The seating area was a bit old school canteen style but it was fine for a quick breakfast.

The food was good and its ready cooked canteen style so no waiting about for it to be prepared and it was only £4.95

Palm readings

Gaz isn’t so much a believer of these but I wanted to have a go anyway. You’ll find lots of different ones along the front, on the piers and even inside the pleasure beach.

I went to the one next to the Sea Life Centre, Leanora Petulengro and she was very good, she was very quiet I had to listen very carefully to her!

She wasn’t vague like some others I have previously visited and she was lovely. Whether you believe in it or not, it’s worth a visit.

Madame Tussauds

We have previously taken the kids in here and they were bored. So it was much better going without them and being able to have a proper good look.

We had so much fun, especially as one of Chloes favourite YouTubers is currently featured here, so we took a selfie and it looks so real, even months later she still doesn’t know we didn’t really meet him!

I loved that you could put your name on the Take me Out board!

Grosvenor Casino

I’ve only ever been in a Casino once I think, and I just remember it being quite small and smokey (yes it was THAT long ago) but this was a much beter experience.

We weren’t really dressed for the occasion and we were soaked from the torrential rain but the staff were lovely. Setting us up accounts and explaining how it all worked.

We grabbed a drink from the bar and sat watching the football before having a go on some of the machines. The tables weren’t open but they were training new staff so we did have a little watch of them also.

I lost my whole £10 within a few minutes because I didn’t know what I was doing on the game but Gaz turned his £10 into £39.10 – Winner!

Clue HQ Escape Room

After the Casino we headed to the escape Gaz had booked, this wasn’t the best idea after a few drinks – you definitely need to be thinking straight, especially when there are only 2 of you!

We had 2 more left to solve when we ran out of time and they said that was pretty good going as teams of 6 often don’t manage to solve it all in the time either!

Stone Steakhouse

I have written a much longer post about this over here, under 14s aren’t allowed in here so we knew we would have a peaceful dinner.

The food was great and it was a real novelty experience so definitely recommend a visit. Check out the full review here

Thank god for the tram because the heavens opened and we got SOAKED just running over to the tram stop!

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

You’ll know if you follow me we love theme parks, so we couldn’t visit Blackpool without heading back to the Pleasure beach – We visited not too long ago with the kids but it was so much easier on our own.

The queues were pretty short and we got to go on almost all the big rides.

Unfortunately due to high winds The Big One closed while we were in the queue and it didn’t reopen before we left. What an excuse to have to come back though!

We also made the most of our photopass and got loads of ride photos this time

Things to do in Blackpool for Adults

I hope you have enjoyed reading about our experience of Blackpool for Adults and taken some inspiration for your next visit.

We has a really great time and we will definitely be back with and without the kids!
