Earlier this year we were sad we weren’t going to be able to attend the Worcester Balloon Festival as it clashed with another event we were already attending. Fortunately it had to reschedule for later in the year and we were able to attend the rescheduled date!
I completely forgot I hadn’t written up about this event but they have now released the 2024 dates so thought I’d better throw something together!
The Crown Inn, Hallow
We started our day off with some lunch over at The Crown Inn, Hallow. It’s a lovely pub (although on the pricey side) it is part of the Chef & Brewer chain.
They have a lovely garden area but unfortunately no play area which is a shame! There is a park located just behind but there isn’t direct access to this from the pub garden.
Holly wanted pasta, Oscar a burger and Gaz had the steak baguette and I had this amazing Korean chicken and rish dish. Very yummy!
Worcester Balloon Festival
The Worcester Balloon Festival is held over 2 days. The Friday is an evening only event and the Saturday is a full day.
They have already announced they will be back on 21st/22nd June 2024. Find out more on the Worcester Balloon Festival Site.
We paid around £21 for a family ticket with 2024 prices looking to be similar.
The early bird ticket prices are currently showing as follows:
Whats on at Worcester Balloon Festival?
Civil War Soldiers Reenactment
The Civil War Soldiers did drills with the children, demonstrating how to stand correctly, march and even charge (at the parents!) Holly and Oscar loved it and didn’t want to leave.
Stunt Bikes
The stunt bike team were incredible. No hands, mid air flips and even completely letting go at some points!
Oscar especially loved watching these and I do hope they come back in 2024.
Worcester Balloon Festival Funfair
The funfair consisted of over a dozen rides mainly for smaller guests. Just be prepared to part with quite a bit of cash with things such as the dodgems being £5 per car!
The food stalls were also pretty expensive (around £12 for an adult meal)
Inflatable Arena
In addition to the funfair is the inflatable arena with several different inflatables to use. They had unlimited play for 10 minutes.
The Main Attraction – The Balloons
Thankfully the balloons were able to fly on Saturday after the disappointment of Friday night!
Everyone loved watching them taking off, all different colours, patterns, shapes and sizes! They were visible for quite a while before they disappeared from the skyline.
Fireworks
The Worcester Balloon Festival Saturday was finished off with some amazing fireworks. We dropped the kids back and then headed down to our local riverside pub to get the best view.
Sorry it’s a brief one, I forgot to charge my phone so had to get other people to take photos for me – must be more organised!
And take lots of suncream…… whoops
We will be heading back this year it was a really great day out.
