There are a couple of take away options, a Sainsbury’s and an Aldi all in walking distance and Chertsey train station is just an 8 minute walk away.

Parking at Chertsey Travelodge

Chertsey Travelodge has a very small car park, with around 20 spaces which you can’t reserve. Unfortunately we weren’t there early enough to grab a space but Sainsbury’s is just a short walk away and cost us £5 for overnight (£10 for 24 hours) through YourParkingSpace.

We parked right by the petrol station where there is a little walk way cut through to the hotel.

There is also some limited free between 6pm – 8am parking on the street but I didn’t want to be rushed in the morning.

Our Room

We were allocated room 12 on the ground floor. Typical when I don’t have hundreds of children in tow! But even so it was still nice to not have to walk for miles to find our room.

On first glance it looked all good! As it is just Chloe and I, I opted for a twin room (which was £15 cheaper than a double bed and a pull out bed)

The heating was only a small wall panel heater but it actually did quite a good job!

The offering of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel was disappointingly an all in one concoction, thankfully I had taken my own.

Although we didn’t have a hairdryer in the room, we did ask at reception and they found us one.

We did laugh how the sheets didn’t fit the bed but we were most disappointed that the spare pillows were dirty so we couldn’t use them. The bathroom also wasn’t in the best condition considering it looked online like they had been recently refurbished.

But overall for a bargain stay it gave us exactly what we needed.

Breakfast at Chertsey Cafe

As Chertsey Travelodge doesn’t offer a cooked breakfast (you can pre order a breakfast to go but I’m not a fan) we set off to find somewhere nearby.

I had thought Sainsbury’s would have a cafe but it doesn’t even though it’s a big store but we did find this local cafe.

It is located right next to Sainsbury’s (which has 2 hours free parking if you get it validated in Sainsbury’s)

They had a good sized menu, including a build your own breakfast option. The staff were lovely too which is also a bonus.

We both had the early riser breakfast (Chloe had my egg!) they did offer to swap it for something else but I really didn’t need anymore food.

The food came out really quick and was really tasty. We paid £20.40 for 2 breakfasts and an orange juice. They are CASH ONLY though, there is a cash point at Sainsbury’s.

We cleared our plates and Chloe tried coffee for the first time. Her verdict was ‘It tastes like burnt’ which is pretty accurate but she finished the cup so it couldn’t be that bad!

But that’s breakfast done and it’s time to get to Thorpe Park!
