We booked a last minute stay at Devon Cliffs Haven – we booked on Saturday night to arrive on Monday morning!

Where is Devon Cliffs Haven?

As the name suggests, Devon Cliffs is unsurprisingly located in Devon. It’s a short drive from Exmouth and easily accessible from the M5.

Our Saver Van

As we booked last minute they only had saver vans available but as we knew we would spend very little time in it, we weren’t too bothered what grade we booked.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to our accommodation. Although we didn’t have parking right outside the caravan we were only 2 vans away and it was all paved which is something we don’t have much of at Burnham on Sea.

Our accommodation was basic but clean and really close to the main entertainment complex.

Our kitchen had a small fridge with freezer compartment, an oven, grill and hob along with a microwave. Although we are used to having a dishwasher in ours it was a great argument for eating out to save on washing up.

The main bedroom was quite spacious for such a small caravan with wardrobes and a dressing table.

As we booked a 3 bedroom we also had 2 twin rooms both with a wardrobe and drawers.

It also had the nice little bonus of having central heating which we didn’t expect along with a beautiful sea view, although its probably harder to land a van that doesn’t have a sea view at Devon Cliffs!

Activities

Devon Cliffs is packed full of activities, although the majority of them are an extra cost which very quickly becomes very expensive for a family.

The Jump

The Jump is one of the newer ones to Haven parks. Offering the bravest of guests the option of 2 low jumps and 2 high jumps. Having done this at Burnham I can confirm it is MUCH higher than it looks when you are up there! I think this is around £10 per person with an 8yrs+ age limit.

4×4 Off Roaders

These mini 4x4s are pedal operated so mini drivers can navigate their way around the track. With some little hills and tight turns to get around. Again I think this is around £10 per person.

Inflatable Assault Course

Again I think this fell into the £10 per person price bracket, thankfully they have been on it before so didn’t want to go on it again.

Mini Aerial Adventure

It’s nice they added a mini version of this and it is suitable for those under 1.2m. Holly and Oscar liked it at first but once they had been round a couple of times they were bored.

Mini Golf

Adventure Playground

Climbing Wall

The climbing wall gives guests the opportunity to scale the wall before abseiling back down.

High Ropes

A larger version of the mini aerial adventure which goes through the tree tops.

Bungee Trampolines

How high can you go? Will you be brave and flip over? The kids are obsessed with these and always want to have a go.

Arcade

The arcade at Devon Cliffs is pretty big but it does get really busy. If you have lots of tickets, it’s best not to leave it to the last minute to swap them for prizes as the queue gets very long!

Holly and Oscar loved this giant hungry hippos game (that even big kids can play!)

Soft Play

In the middle of the arcade and next to the Sports bar is a soft play area, it’s not huge but it does keep them occupied especially when the weathers not so great or the sport is on

Show Bar

We were really lucky and timed it just right to get to see the pantomime Aladdin – Hero of Shangri-La. Devon Cliffs have an incredible team for their shows and they are so good!

The main show bar is huge so it is well worth downloading Haven Serve and getting drinks (and food) delivered to your table rather than standing at the bar for ages.

Mash & Barrel

As is standard across all Haven sites (as far as I know, apart from Primrose Valley who now have a Wetherspoons) you’ll find a Mash & Barrel restaurant.

Highly recommend the sharing dessert platter – We absolutely love it! Holly and Oscar love making their little fruit sticks and dipping them.

With such a beautiful views it’s a shame to sit inside if the weather is good, you can order food to the outside area (which is covered by netting to stop those pesky seagulls!) and enjoy these views. It also overlooks the playground so the kids can play while you wait for your food too.

They also do character visits on certain days, check the calendar for the next dates. Holly never misses out on a character photo op.

New: Slim Chickens

New to the Haven food offerings is Slim Chickens, a sort of KFC style restaurant. It is located where Starbucks used to be, opposite reception / next to the showground and mini market.

It was pretty good, I’ve never had one before or since so don’t have anything to compare it too but I really liked it.

They also have Burger King, Papa Johns and Cooks chip shop all inside the main complex next to the sports bar.

The Beach

One of the best parts of visiting Devon Cliffs has to be the beach. Not only is it beautiful but it now also has a bar so you don’t even have to walk all the way back up the slope to grab a drink – hurrah!

The sea is really clean and calm and it’s so big it never feels busy. It is one of my favourite places to be.

We thought being as it was sunny and we were on a beach we should try out the heart shaped sand photo. let me tell you it isn’t as easy as it looks 😆 Gaz had to dig so deep we hit water and I was too scared to put my phone down there so we used his 😆😆 But we sort of got a cute photo in the end! #sandheart #beachphoto @garethjones87
