Evesham parkrun run report

Today I ventured over to Evesham parkrun, it finally returned last week after several back to back cancellations due to flooding. Evesham ticks off my ‘E’ in my namely challenge, my 13th different location and an ‘E’ on the Old MacDonald challenge!

It is around a 35 minute drive from me so I was lucky enough to catch the beautiful sunrise this morning as I was leaving the house.

Evesham parkrun

There is a bit of a walk from the carpark to the start on this one, thankfully other people were around so I could follow them to the start although there were some helpful signposts also.

First timers briefing

At the first timers briefing Paul explained there would be coned off areas on the course due to ice puddles and to take it slowly on these sections of the field.

It is a 2 lap course with around 50/50 grass and path. It would be fine for buggy runners on dryer weeks but I probably wouldn’t attempt a buggy run in wetter weeks!

Paiul giving the first timer briefing

After this weeks Run Director Luc gave their pre run talk including shouting out all the milestones (I’ve listed these at the end) thanking the volunteers and welcoming the tourists, it was time to go.

Evesham parkrun route

The route starts its first clockwise lap towards the underpass and childrens play area, you run along the fenceline before coming back down the path back through the underpass following the path down to the turnaround point.

This then takes you across the field (which is where the icy patches were as the sun hadn’t warmed up enough by this point) back towards the start. Staying to the right you go past the finish funnel to repeat for your 2nd lap.

Although the course was slippy today with the mix of mud and ice it was still a really good course.

It is lovely and flat which is a bonus and in the summer it would be a beautiful view along the route, not so much on a freezing cold January morning.

The volunteers are a super friendly bunch so thank you very much for a really great parkrun

Parking and Facilities

There are a couple of options for parking at Evesham parkrun. I parked in the field off boat lane (What3Words location : ///taken.repaying.refrain) it will look like you are driving down a dead end but there is a parkrun sign on the left directing you to the parking field.

This parking is free and there are loads of spaces, it didn’t seem to get too full either, again this may become muddy on wetter weeks though!

Alternatively you can park in Crown Meadows carpark (What3Words location: ///saints.habits.suckle) This one is a pay and display and has a toilet block at the entrance. The charges are Up to 1 hr – £1.00, Up to 2 hrs – £2.00, Up to 3 hrs – £3.00 and Up to 12.5 hrs – £4.00.

I would say that either carpark is around the same distance to the start so it would just depend on the weather situation.

Raphael’s Restaurant

Of course I had to hunt down where post parkrun coffee and cake happens and this one was conviently located next to the field parking. They allow park run users to park on the field so do pay them a visit if you can.

They serve a range of hot and cold food and drinks, cakes and snacks. I went for Victoria Sponge cake and a can of coke and I knew I had a coffee in the car.
