Flight Out

We flew out from East Midlands airport, we parked in the meet and greet and after a Frankie & Bennys breakfast we boarded our flight and left exactly on time (hurrah!) The airport was super busy so we were so glad to be leaving on time.

On arrival in Enfida we were off, through security and bags in hand within 40 minutes.

It is worth noting Tunisian Dinar is a closed currency and it is a criminal offense in Tunisia to import or export dinars. This means you cannot exchange money prior to arrival, however most hotels will offer currency exchange at the reception.

Check the exchange rate as it was a better rate to just draw out cash via the ATM for us (Just double check your card issuers fees)

Transfer

Although the hotel is only around 35 minutes from Enifda airport the transfer took around an hour, which felt like an eternity as Oscar started to be sick shortly after leaving the airport and continued for the rest of the journey (and right till the middle of the night!)

We were on a shared coach transfer and there were 5 stops before our hotel, we didn’t have to option to upgrade to a private transfer otherwise we would.

Check in

The check in was very chaotic, weirdly similar to how the check in at Tui Blue Manar was, so perhaps this is just how they like to do it in Tunisia? (I later realised the same parent company own both this hotel and the Manar so this may be why) We were sent into the lobby bar to fill out forms and then had to go to reception to pay the tourist tax and collect our room keys.

Our tourist tax was around £15 per room as we had 1 adult in each room and the hotel have a qr code for you to scan and view all the hotel information (more on that later!)

Tunisia charges a tourist tax per person per night, with rates dependent on the hotel’s star rating, which is paid at the hotel. The tax is 12 TND for 4- and 5-star hotels, 8 TND for 3-star hotels, and 4 TND for 2-star hotels. This is applied for a maximum of 10 nights, and children under 12 are exempt.
Tourist tax rates
2-star hotels: 4 TND per person per night
4- and 5-star hotels: 12 TND per person per night
3-star hotels: 8 TND per person per night

Rooms

Our rooms were ready on arrival and we were right next door to each other which was great. They are quite tight for space but we don’t spend much time in them anyway.

Double room

We were on the ground floor with views over the waterpark, as we have the gardens right outside we did seem to have a few ants in our room but not a major problem.

Family room

Amanda had a family room which sleeps 4 – a double bed and 2 singles. Hers also had a seperate bathroom and toilet.

Food & Bars

Main Buffet Restaurant

Each night is a different theme but to be honest we couldn’t have told you any different about any night! The food was fine, standard all inclusive. The flies are pretty annoying so would recommend not sitting by the windows as they seem to accumulate round those tables.

Pool snack bar

The pool snack bar is open in the afternoons between 3.30-5pm they only had a very limited offering – usually pizza and a sandwich.

Beach snack bar

Serving food between 12-3pm it has a smaller selection to whatever the main restaurant was serving and a very limited selection of drinks, fruit juices and coca cola seemed to be the only options.

It is a lovely view over the beach though and we did go and eat here most days as it never got busy like the main buffet.

Dome snack bar

Open from around 4-5.30pm this Dome snack bar located next to the stage alternates between donuts and pancakes – both with a choice of sugar, vanilla or chocolate sauce toppings. They limit it to 2 per person which I think is really fair as it stops people going up for loads at a time.

They were both really good and the queues were always long but move super quick so don’t let it put you off.

Lobby bar

If you want GOOD cocktails this is where you need to head, drop them a tip and they will even remember what drinks you like and make them fresh. The pina coladas were lovely

A La Carte

We gave the a la carte a miss as this seemed to be the full menu and I know I wouldn’t eat the majority of it and didn’t want to take up the space for someone who would enjoy it more.

Pools

Main activity pool

The outdoor pool is very deep, as I found out when I stepped backwards off the ladder and sunk straight down!

They do most of the activities in here from aqua aerobics to inflatable obstacles. They also have music on most of the time and the snack bar is located at the far end of this pool next to the shallow kids pool.

Indoor pool

The indoor pool is super warm but it is also super loud! There are plenty of loungers around the edge of the pool to sit and watch but the noise is deafening when it is busy.

Waterpark

The waterpark really is the highlight of this hotel and the kids just loved it.

Opening hours 10- 12.30 & 2-5.30 although we did notice they switched off the smaller ones closer to 5pm if noone was on them.

It is split into 2 parts, the larger slide side and the castle side as we called it which is aimed at the smaller guests.

There wasn’t a bar open in here when we visited but there is one by the entrance to the waterpark. They only had juices and water available on self serve the rest of the bar was closed.

This pool is also where the pool party is located and the kids thought it was so much fun. Unfortunately it was the worst day for weather for our entire stay but it didn’t put the kids off having a great time.

Pool Party

The pool party was the highlight of the week for the kids, unfortunately it was on the most overcast and coldest day of our stay!

Hospital Visit

Of course it wouldn’t be my life without some drama…

The hotel have a cat named Lily, who took a fancy to Oscars leg perhaps mistaking it for dinner and bit him. Although she is vaccinnated are cared for by the hotel they told us we should go and get Oscar jabbed just to be sure.

They arranged us a taxi (which we had to pay for – approx £15) and they paid for the vaccinations and doctors fee.

I’m just going to leave these pictures here and not say anymore about it…

Entertainment

Each night there is a mini disco around 8.30, bingo or tombola and then a show.

The circus show, comedy show and fire show they had were the same ones we saw at Tui Blue Manar but a shorter and smaller production version of the shows.

In the daytime there is so much going on – from pool activities to darts and even yoga. It is all displayed on the board by the entrance to the waterpark

Kids Club

I think this may be the saddest kids club we have ever seen. They don’t seem to ‘do’ anything, they have colouring inside along with a handful of games and outside has a small play area.

The afternoon session do seem to go and get a snack from the dome (which is just outside kids club) but that is the only time we have seen them leave the kids club room

They also seemed to make up the times they were open – The sign outside states they are open 9-12.30 & 3-5.30

They also really push these tshirts – they had us pick a design BEFORE telling us its 55tnd each (Approx £14.15) but Holly loves getting tshirts from kids club so I did get her one.

Gym

I tried to use the gym a couple of times but the treadmill is broken and it was always pretty busy. The advertised opening times are 9-12 & 3-6 with access on request only on a Sunday.

Beach

Wi-fi reaches down to the beach, till about the end of the sunbeds – for those who need to know this information!

Sunbeds and umbrellas are free to use, the security will drag over the padded lounger cushions for you if you ask. I always take a buggy clip with me to clip my bag up under the parasol and these ones had a metal holder part which was perfect to clip it onto.

You will find there are so many people trying to sell to you, within half hour we had been offered bracelets, blankets, cigarettes and pictures with the camel and horses. And they do just keep coming round, security do wave them away if they get too close to the loungers though so they will just shout you from where they are allowed to walk.

The water is shallow to begin with but there is a shelf where it does drop a foot or so deeper quite suddenly so just be careful if smaller ones are in the water.

Jet Skis

The kids all wanted to go on the Jet skis and after my experience in Rhodes I wasn’t keen to go on again! Luckily the guy who organises it offered to take them all out one at a time so they could all have a go.

Be prepared to negoiate with them on the prices we ended up with a good deal (around £10 each!)

Photographer

I won a ‘free’ photoshoot and 3 digital images with my bingo win so decided to have the photos done. I had thought about having them done anyway and now I would get some free photos too.

The photos only took around 15 minutes and although he took over 100 images I quickly whittled it down to a dozen I liked which cost me £50 in the end. He started alot higher so be prepared to haggle him down especially if you want lots of the images.

The only downside was he sent them over whatsapp and the quality isn’t very good so when I have tried to have them printed it struggled with the quality on larger sizes.

Overall this holiday was a mixed bag – the waterpark and beach areas were brilliant for the kids. Having the heated indoor pool was also a nice addition.

The food let it down, but we knew ahead of time it didn’t have good reviews for food so this wasn’t a surprise. The snack bars actually seemed better for food than the main restaurant most of the time.

Total cost £5,446 for 7 of us, all inclusive for 7 nights over the October half term.
