We paid a very last minute visit to the Worcester Comic Con earlier this year. When I say last minute, we booked the tickets on the day when we saw some people in fancy dress coming back from parkrun!

Batmobile
They had a batmobile outside but due to the rain it was covered over so we couldn’t really see it or have pics. I managed to snap one as it was leaving.
While waiting to get into the event there were a few photo ops. First this robot R2D2 was whizzing around stopping for people to take photos. Alongside was this huge T-rex cut out, Holly was doing her best roar!
There were lots of people in fancy dress which the kids loved and wanted photos taken with them all. The majority were happy to pose for pictures thankfully!
Overall it was pretty quiet though (although as I said we didn’t arrive till 2pm) which was a shame. We have never been to a comic con before but it felt more like a niche bootsale than anything else.
You’ll see on my Tiktok below they did have a light sabre battle area but it was pretty busy. There was also a ‘retro gaming area’ along one of the outer walls with some old game consoles but other than that it was just people selling things.
Stallholders
Lots of the stalls had packed up by the time we got there. Along with the 360 photo booth and all the card battle tables.
I did however spot this stall and picked up a wall canvas for Oscars room as he absolutely loves superheroes. They did so many different prints it was hard to choose just one!
Matt Gantry
Matt Gantry was also there selling signed copies of his book ‘The Gamer’. I haven’t had chance to read it yet but it is available on Amazon.
Platform 9¾
I am by no means a Harry Potter fanatic, in fact I have never read the books or watched a film! But I do know that Platform 9¾ is famous from the stories, so I had to grab a photo.
They had lots of other props you could use, cloaks, scarves and other bits if you wanted to add more to your photo.
Face painting
Free face painting was available but with just 1 face painter the queue was quite long. We waited almost an hour, I ended up stood in the queue saving Hollys place while Gaz took them round the stalls.
The face painter was very good but it probably would have been better for there to be 2 or have a smaller choice of quicker designs. You can find her on Facebook Fizz Pop Facepainting.
Upcoming events
The next planned event for Worcester is on Sunday 18th February 2024 you can find out more and book tickets on eventbrite
We will go again, hopefully it might be slightly better organised next year as they’ve done lots more events across the country.
