This year Gaz decided to surprise me with a weekend away – arranged and booked through Air BnB (Anchor Suite Lytham) with no input from me! This is so far out of my comfort zone I can’t even begin to explain how anxious it makes me!
Gaz picked me up from work and the Sat Nav told me we had a pretty long drive ahead (no thanks to the Friday evening rush hour traffic I might add!)
Location of Anchor Suite Lytham
Anchor Suite is located on Clarendon Road North, Lytham Saint Annes – It is an extension to the main house with its own entrance, garden and hot tub.

Alot of the road is double yellows but you’ll fine a handful of spaces directly outside* we parked a bit further up and moved our car later on when a space became available.
*There is a school directly opposite so you may struggle for parking if you arrive during the peak school run times.
Arriving at our Accomodation
We stayed at The Anchor Suite Lytham St Annes – The accomodation is accessed via a coded key lock on the gate (codes are texted to you on your check in day) and you can access the property from 4pm. The host actually text on the day to say it was ready from 11.30am so we could have arrived earlier if I hadn’t been at work.
The property has an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and large garden with an enclosed hot tub.
Anchor Suite Lytham Kitchen
The kitchen is well equipped with everything we need for our stay and even has a lovely welcome basket containing bread, a selection of breakfast cereals, cookies, the usual tea, coffee, sugar and dishwasher tablets. There is also milk and orange juice in the fridge.
The kitchen consists of an oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher and good sized fridge freezer. Perfect for self catering stays.
Anchor Suite Lytham Lounge
I was slightly nervous about the amount of glass in the lounge – glass topped dining table, coffee table and various glass ornaments – we moved them all out of the way during our stay, just incase!
Free Wifi is available and the huge TV in the lounge has Netflix and many other streaming apps.
The sofa pulls out into a large bed and you’ll find the bedding and lots of blankets in the storage cupboard behind the sofa.
Bathroom
I wouldn’t normally stay somewhere that didn’t have a bath but I can just about manage for a few days! The shower is pretty big and has a choice of rainfall shower head or a normal one that detaches which makes it easier to shower the kids.
Toilet rolls, hand soap, shower gel and a floor mat are available for you to use.
Bedroom 1 – Twin Room
The first bedroom you come too is the twin bedroom. In here you’ll find 2 single beds, a small hanging rail with a storage shelf above and a mirror with shelf and hairdryer.
Beds are made up on arrival. Each bed has a towel and a chocolate coin much to the kids excitement. (we didn’t get a look in on those!)
There is a smaller TV on the wall with the same app access as the lounge.
Bedroom 2 – Double Room
The main bedroom has a king sized bed, again made up on arrival with towels and chocolate coin. Storage is limited with just a small chest of drawers and hanging rail above with shelf. It was fine for a weekend but we might struggle if the 6 of us were to stay for longer.
Again there is a small dressing table area with a shelf, mirror and hairdryer. In the corner there is a cosy chair with extra blankets. The bedside tables do also have a large single drawer.
The TV is again a smart TV so we could watch Netflix in bed.
Anchor Suite Lytham Hot Tub House
The Hot Tub is tucked away in the summer house (along with all the sofa cushions for the outdoor furniture)
This 10 person Hot Tub also features coloured lighting and a built in radio. It does have a CD played and Aux in option but we didn’t have any with us.
Having the hot tub inside makes so much difference, although we did miss being able to lay it in looking at the stars.
Anchor Suite Lytham Garden
Outside you’ll find plenty of seating, a small climbing frame with swings, a peddle digger and a trampoline. This has to be one of the best AirBnB gardens we have ever visited. The kids didn’t even care that it was 0° they were loving having all these things to play with.
The lighting in the garden was great too especially as it is still getting dark quite early and it made it easier to walk between the hot tub room and the house.
Welcome Pack
I’m always happy to see some sort of welcome pack – This one included the Wifi password, instructions on what to do before you leave and also local attractions, take away menus and information on local travel.
Responsive Host
We had a problem with the toilet during our stay and it wouldn’t flush properly and the host replied within a few minutes and came out to repair it. Much better than some of the hosts of other AirBnB’s we have stayed at.
We will definitely come back in the summer and perhaps find another one nearby so our friends can stay at the same time.
