When we converted the garage into my office we blocked off the door leading into a bit of an empty space in our house leading to the back door.
In hindsight blocking the only access to the garden that didn’t involve going through the house wasn’t the best idea but here we are…

We decided to add in a downstairs toilet to make some use of the space but it was added in and sort of forgotten about. It was in desperate need of some sort of … well something!
When we originally did it I got the cabinet from Argos for £45 (Make sure you use TopCashBack for purchases via Argos!)
The toilet and sink combo was purchased from The Big Bathroom shop we paid £394.92 but it’s now showing at £573! We love it though as it’s a great space saver having it all in one unit.
You can fund it under : Milano Lurus – Concrete Grey Modern Select Toilet and Basin Combination Unit – 500mm x 890mm SKU BFSDLS1
The toilet seat was from Amazon and cost us £29.99.
The glow-up
We went for a half tiled half painted wall using white tiles with grey grout to match the toilet.
We choose the Wickes Metro White Ceramic Wall Tile – 200 x 100mm which cost us £16 a pack and we used almost 5 boxes. For the grout we went with Mapei Flexible Coloured Wall & Floor Grout Grey 2.5kg
We used EVO-STIK 5L Instant Grab Wall Tile Adhesive which was £17 a tub and finished the tiles off with a Homelux 8mm Metal Straight Silver Tile trim 2.44m we needed 2 and they were £15 each. We probably should have got 6mm one’s as these are slightly too big.
For the paint we used Wickes Vinyl Matt Emulsion Paint – Pewter No.220 – 2.5L – This was £15 when we purchased it. I also think it’s better to have good brushes and went for Harris Seriously Good Walls & Ceilings Paint Brush Set – Pack of 5 which were £9.50.
In total our downstairs toilet renovation cost was £161 but we did use my trade card to save a bit on it. If you run a business you can get a trade account which saves you 10% on your purchases
I hope you have found some inspiration for your own downstairs toilet renovation.
