A while back (because I am quite far behind on blog posts – whoops!) Oscar, Gaz and I went to Nature Makers session to see what they were all about.

Nature Makers describe themselves as “The UK’s leading provider of Mindful Nature Art, Craft & Play experiences for Children & Adults” using Eco-friendly and Vegan inclusive products.

The session we attended was located in Hallow but they now run sessions over in Worcester Woods Country Park under the same format.

Nature Makers is a really relaxed ‘in nature’ session. They tend to be outside as long as the weather permits of course! Thankfully the sun was shining for us.

Make sure you take along a blanket or something to sit on on the grass while your session is running.

Activities

Our first activity was to collect some natural things to add to our art work. Everyone was given a paper plate to decorate with various bits of arts and crafts pieces and complete it with things found around us. Oscar was very pleased with his creation.

We were encouraged to talk about all the things we could use and the Nature Makers coordinator (in our session this is Shelley) is on hand to give more in depth information on the things you find.

Oscar loved going round with his tub collecting flowers, leaves and grass to decorate his plate. We even saw some baby bunnies but they were too quick for us to get a picture.

Colour Treasure Hunt

Next we did a colour treasure hunt where we had to try and find things around us that matched the colours. Oscar loved this and it really a really good way to help him with learning colours too.

Shelley is really knowledgable and was telling us about each of the things we had collected for our treasure hunt.

After the session Oscar wanted to carry on walking around the surrounded area and of course a quick go on the swing and zip line before we headed home.

Sessions run on a Wednesday from 10-11.15am at Worcester Woods Country Park and a Friday 10-11.15am at Droitwich Lido. Shelley also has some sessions coming up at Spetchley Gardens.
