It’s not often I get a night away from the kids, so I will always jump at the chance to do it when I can! So being offered not only a night away at the Voco St Johns Solihull but also a day out at Solihull Summerfest – of course I had to say yes!

The Voco St Johns Solihull Hotel
The main entrance opens up into a bright and stylish seating area with the reception desk to the left.
The Bar
Brasserie six5one is an instagrammable relaxed space to grab a drink before heading out, or perhaps when you get back! With a mix of comfy sofas and high seating it’s a great place to socialise.
Brasserie six5one Dining
The hotel offers a dinner service (menu below) but we only had breakfast which consists of a mix of buffet and made to order dishes.
Breakfast is served Monday to Friday: 6:30 am-9:30 am & Saturday/Sunday: 7:30 am-10:30 am
Dinner is served Monday to Saturday: 7:00 am-9:30 pm
A continental breakfast is £11.95 or a full cooked breakfast is £15.95. There were also some other options you could order if you prefer.
The buffet is spread over several sections with the continental to the left. A coffee station in the middle and then all the hot food, fruit and cereals over to the right.
It was good to see staff were constantly wiping down surfaces, clearing up and restocking everything so breakfast ran very smoothly.
Amanda opted for a the cooked buffet breakfast, I had a bit of a mix of cooked and continental and also ordered some pancakes just to see what they were like. I didn’t have to wait long, they came out in just a couple of minutes.
The Bedrooms
The Voco offers 200 bedrooms across 4 floors sleeping 2 to 6 people. Although there is a lift to all the floors some rooms do have steps up/down to them there are 4 guest rooms that are completely accessible.
Dogs are also welcome at the hotel for a £10 charge per night.
Sleeping area
Our door opened into this airy space with 2 single beds. Both with its own bedside lamp, double plug socket with USB charging slots.
The wardrobe was home to a range of useful items including an iron and ironing board, a safe, hairdryer and tea / coffee making facilities.
The tea tray is actually very well stocked with several types of tea, hot chocolate, coffee, sugars and milk. They also supply ‘proper’ sized cups unlike some other hotel chains.
Dressing room / Workspace
Just off the bedroom is a dressing room / workspace area (there is also a door which I presume means ours was an interconnecting room)
You’ll find a desk with a lamp, complimentary bottled water and a handy little QR code you can scan and order food & drink to your room.
Bathroom
The bathroom was roomy and clean. Although all the photos on the website show the rooms as having walk in showers, we actually had a bath with a shower over it.
We had a bath towel and a hand towel each and a floor mat. Complimentary toiletries are included – Antipodes Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash next to the shower along with hand wash and hand lotion by the sink.
You’ll also find the usual double sided door hanger sign with do not disturb / please clean my room for you to hang outside your room.
There is also a breakfast ordering door hanger if you want to have it delivered to your room. Just hang it out by 3am and they will charge it to your room + a £5 tray service charge.
Conference & Event facilities at Voco St Johns Solihull
Voco St Johns Solihulls biggest selling point is the range of 13 conference and event spaces they have on offer. Catering from a small intimate dinner to a 700 guest gala.
We were lucky enough to see one of the rooms being set up for a 600 guest wedding which looked absolutely stunning.
There is even a separate entrance with reception / bar for events to the side of the hotel so guests don’t have to come through the main reception to reach the event rooms. This makes it perfect for weddings or private parties.
The hotel has a list of supplies they can recommend to you from decor to catering but you are welcome to use whoever you prefer.
It’s a beautiful venue to use whether you are arrange a small team meeting or a large scale product launch or wedding.
Leisure Facilities
The hotel has an indoor pool, sauna and fitness centre. We didn’t use these facilities so can’t comment on them but they are there if you want to use them
Indoor pool opening hours: 7 am-9 pm
Children are allowed in the pool Sunday to Mondays 9 am until 8 pm
Fitness centre hours: 6 am-9 pm
We really enjoyed our stay at Voco St Johns Solihull, the staff were so lovely, rooms were comfortable and a very substantial breakfast.
You can book directly with the hotel on the Voco St John Solihull website or if woud like to enquire about an event you can contact them on conference.enquiries@stjohnssolihull.co.uk
