Soft play centres. Whether as parents you love or loathe them (I am definitely the latter) they are a great way to keep the kids amused for a few hours and Jam Jam Boomerang was no exception.
Jam Jam Boomerang
Located in Unit 3a Middlemarch Business Park, Woodhams Road, Coventry CV3 4FX there is ample free parking directly outside and round the side of the unit.
On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff, we were checked in, given a slip of paper with guidelines on (standard covid stuff) and a menu.
The girls were soon off playing in the 3 floors of bridges, rollers, aerial glides and bish bags. They also loved the 4 lane wavy slide in the main play area. Over to the right rear side of the play centres is a football area and a separate area for the smaller ones (suggested 0-4) smaller equipment on 2 floors, a mini 2 lane slide, little tikes cars and some wall mounted activities boards.
Food & Drinks
We ordered drinks and a bowl of chips – they were quickly served to our table. Definitely recommend getting a jug of squash if you have several children with you, ours soon finished this one and buying individual drinks soon adds up! Oh and the hot chocolates were insta worthy.
They offer a good range of food and it is reasonably priced (not cheap but similar to other soft plays we visit)
We only chose not to eat here as they are running fixed 2 hour sessions and we didn’t want the play time taken up by eating.
There were plenty of tables all well spaced apart should you need to navigate a buggy through between them.
The girls toilet facilities include 3 cubicles and hand basins, steps for the smaller ones. There is a baby change (with a complimentary nappy bag dispenser next to it!) They were clean and tidy.
Birthday Parties at Jam Jam Boomerang
We noticed they also had a separate party area and offer 120 minute parties from £9.95 (min 10 children) weekday termtime daytimes, £10.95 (min 15 children) weekday termtime evenings and £11.95 (min 15 children) on weekends and school holidays. All include a cold food buffet, unlimited squash, invites, a dedicated host and an exclusive Jam Jam birthday cake!
I am a huge fan of ‘package’ parties. No cooking, no cleaning and no washing up! And this seems like a pretty good deal if you are local.
They also do discounted toddler sessions in the week term time including drinks and biscuits and laser parties in the evenings.
The Old Mill Coventry
Next we popped over to The Old Mill pub and restaurant, in hindsight this pub is probably not as child friendly as we thought and we wouldn’t visit again with them. We couldn’t fault the serving staff, they were really helpful and polite but the setting overall is aimed at a much older clientele.
The childrens meals were brought out to them on red hot plates, we had to ask for cold ones to transfer the smaller ones meals onto. The food itself was good and they all enjoyed their meals.
The desserts also came out with giant spoons, so we did have to ask for smaller spoons so perhaps they aren’t used to children.
Food issues
I am also super fussy (if you’ve read any of my food related blogs you will know I don’t make any secret of this!) And when ordering my burger I quizzed the server about what was on the burger as the menu didn’t state anything other than ‘Chicken Breast Burger’. She said it had salad (lettuce, tomato, onions) and mayo. So she put a note on – no sauce, no salad. It still came out with mayo on the top and bottom bun (do people not class this as a sauce? As this seems to be something that happens almost everywhere that I order a chicken burger!)
I sent it back and a few minutes later out came a ‘fresh’ one. Only it wasn’t fresh. It just had a new bun and a poor attempt at wiping the mayo off. Fortunately I’m not allergic and its just a preference to not eat it. I managed to wipe it off but didn’t end up finishing it as all I could think of was it was on the food.
We did mention it to the server when she cleared the plates and she said she would pass it onto the kitchen.
We let the girls have desserts (3 Chocolate brownies and Ice cream and 1 Ice cream sundae) none of which survived the walk from the kitchen in this heat very well (it was 28° outside) but they polished them off anyway. Sammie and I shared a Triple Chocolate Brownie which again was lovely!
The girls had a really great day out and were so excited to see each other after so long. We will definitely to back to Jam Jam Boomerang but would choose elsewhere to eat.
