Another National Trust location ticked off, this one, The Firs, is actually only a few minutes from our house and we never knew it existed! It will be beautiful in the summer so we will definitely make sure to come back and visit again.

They did have this cool little quiz dotted around the car park orchard. It has a question and you have to guess the answer before revealing it under the flap. It was a great way for Holly to practice her reading and look at the beautiful views!

How much is entry to The Firs?

You have 2 options when visiting National Trust sites. You can either pay for a day ticket or sign up to an annual pass.

The annual pass offers really good value for money if you are likely to visit more than 3 sites a year. If you are a parkrun regular it also means free parking at National Trust locations like Colby parkrun.

Kids pass has 6% off National Trust tickets and you can sign up to kids pass for £1 for 30 days over on the Kids Pass site (as of 4/10/24)

Tic Tac Toe & Snap

Inside the main reception was a small area to the left with a wooden tic tac toe board and a pack of animal snap cards.

Outside you’ll also find a larger tic tac toe with wooden counters.

Sound Garden

Everyone loved this and Chloe almost perfected playing Ba Ba Black Sheep, if it hadn’t started raining they would have spent much longer playing.

Tree Trunk Band

Hidden between the trees Oscar found this tree trunk drum set, complete with different sized ‘drum sticks’ to create different sounds.

I think Chloe secretly enjoyed this the most.

Bug Hotel

Holly and Oscar loved the bug hotel, you could add to it with twigs, leaves or anything else you could find around it.

As with all National Trust sites (at least the ones we have visited) they have a 2nd hand book shop, I did have to refrain from buying anymore books as my to be read pile is pretty big now! Although I did just buy 2 new book shelves so I have plenty of space to add some more now.

The cottage was full of interesting facts and things to look at, the kids weren’t too interested in anything other than the chess set and the piano which you are welcome to play!

We did have an interesting conversation with Lottie and Holly about being born at home the same as Sir Edward Elgar was and many others back then.

The weather cleared up slightly just long enough to have a look around the garden, I’m sure in the summer it would be beautiful. We did see some butterflies fluttering around the gardens though which made Oscar happy.

Opening Times: 10am – 4.30pm (food served until 3.30pm)

If you know us, you’ll know we (Well Oscar and I mainly) LOVE cake and I would quite happily rate everywhere I visit purely on their cake offering.

Little Al’s Cafe is one of our favourite places in Worcester (They run the one next to the river by Croft Road car park) so I wasn’t surprised they had really good cakes!

Although the smallest National Trust site we have visited it was still a good few hours of fun for us all. If the weather had been better we could have dragged out another couple of hours quite easily so we will go back in the summer for a longer visit.
