With our current mattress rapidly reaching the end of it’s life it was time to find a suitable replacement. It’s served us well for the last 10 years or so but it really wasn’t doing it’s job anymore. Mattress shopping is not fun for us because we can never agree, we’ve been talking about getting a new mattress for several years now but just couldn’t decide on one! Thankfully Origin have made it easier for us by asking us to try out one of their hybrid mattresses so let’s get into what we thought of it.

Just order your Origin mattress and you have 200 days from the day of delivery to return it (free of charge) for a full refund. This is always a great option to have because we all know how difficult it is to buy a mattress that fits what you actually want!

Origin Mattress Delivery

Our Origin mattress size was on a slight delay so we waited a little longer than normal (a couple of weeks) which was fine and we were kept updated with the progress of our order.

The delivery (for us at least) was done by ArrowXL. They arranged delivery for Friday sent me a time and I rearranged my work schedule to be available. 2 hours before the delivery they called me to say they couldn’t complete the delivery and would rearrange for the following day (Saturday) and couldn’t give me an estimated time.

Of course they chose to deliver it while we were out as we had plans lucky my son was off work and able to take the delivery in.

Origin Mattress Review

The Origin Mattress arrived in a box, such a better way to send them rather than trying to carry a full sized king mattress up the stairs. It is however super heavy and Gaz had to bring it up for me.

It was really easy to unpack, we slipped it out the box and cut the tape holding the outer shring wrap in place. It didn’t take too long to get to it’s full size although there weren’t any instructions on how long you should leave it before using it.

I did find on the website it says it can take 48-72 hours to fully inflate.

First night…

It always takes a while for us to get used to a new mattress. This one was quite different to our previous one so there was a lot of finding the best sleeping positions!

But we both woke up and agreed we had had a good nights sleep (helped by the lack of children sneaking in during the night to take over the bed!)

1 Week in

We tried to put our electric blanket on the bed for the cold snap we had but I did find it took away from the comfort slightly. So I have it over the sheet under the duvet and just whip it off before we get in – warm bed but still comfy! Best of both worlds for me!

2 Weeks in

My husband has found it to be a lot better than our previous medium-firm mattress which he had always complained was too hard. This seems to fit both of our sleep preferences.

I prefer to sleep on my side and he is a front sleeper (until he snores and I nearly shove him out the bed to wake him up to move!) so it is a bit of a nightmare finding things that suit us both at times. He also prefers a softer mattress and I prefer a firmer one, this one is a good middle ground for us.

Would we recommend?

We have both found the mattress to be super comfortable and has given us some great nights sleep. So much so that we are going to order a 2nd one for our holiday home so we can benefit for the continuous use and not just when we are at home. Homefully our guests will also appreciate the upgrade from the standard one that is currently on the bed.

Holly and Oscar have also both approved of it and we have an even bigger problem keeping them out of our bed now! It even passed Hollys ‘gymnastics’ test and Oscars best wrestling moves.

I do also love you have the option to return it for free for up to 200 nights after you buy it. Knowing it also won’t just head to landfill if you return it is also good to know!
