Trainmaster – Play sessions for Train lovers

We recently visited a Trainmaster event – we had never heard of them but Sarah invited us along and with Oscars love for trains we knew it would be something he would enjoy!

Who are Trainmaster?

Trainmaster was started by Chloe Cotton after having 3 boys in 3 years and realising going back into teaching just wasn’t going to be viable. Combined with her son’s love for trains and her husbands encouragement, Trainmaster was born!

Typically at a Trainmaster ‘station’ (event) you will find giant ride on trains with tracks, small electric trains, fancy dress and craft areas.

Alongside the group sessions Trainmaster also offer out their services for private events such as birthday parties or corporate events and can even visit you at home or school!

How much is a Trainmaster session?

The session is 1 hour long and we got it on a special £5 per person offer (plus 50p online booking fee) Tickets are normally £7.25 per person. They do have a slightly confusing way of selling tickets to the events (See below) or maybe that’s just me because the squares on the left are all different sizes it upsets my brain!

Babies in arms are free as long as they are not ‘active’ and older siblings even if they won’t be joining in would need a ticket to attend.

Droitwich Trainmaster Session

Our chosen Trainmaster event was Droitwich which is held at Salwarpe Village Hall, Copcut Ln, Salwarpe, Droitwich WR9 0AH.

The hall is really spacious, it was slightly tricky to find as the Satnav isn’t very accurate for the location.

The What 3 Words Location would be super handy for this and it is ///softest.reactions.equipping

There is plenty of parking though which is always a winner for me because finding parking stresses me out alot.

The hall itself has toilets and baby change facilities and has a ramp for easy access.

Ride on Trains

These are definitely the hot favourites with both Holly and Oscar. There were 2 different set ups – One with a choice of straight ramp or wiggly slide and another that follows a track and pulls along carriages.

Oscar couldn’t get the hang of keeping his feet off the floor and kept derailing it.

I lost count how many times Oscar went on it, he really did love it!

Train sets and Remote Control Trains

Oscars second favourite thing was this little remote control Thomas and Percy train. He thought it was hilarious crashing it into everyone and everything.

Holly also liked this train set with a crane that you could operating to lift up and down.

Activities for younger Train enthusiasts

Sophie really liked the play mat and soft Thomas and Percy toys. There is also a range of books for varying ages available.

At the end of the session everyone gets their own Thomas and Friends book to keep.

We also saw loyalty cards were handed out to some people but we had to ask for one.

Would we recommend Trainmaster events?

I was surprised Holly enjoyed it just as much as Oscar, I didn’t think she would be that interested. But any older unless they were REALLY into trains i’m not sure they would be that interested. I also don’t think I would want to pay full price for a session. £5 would be the most I would want to pay.

We were surprised that the organiser didn’t get involved at all and just stood by the door the whole session. They definitely could have made the session more interactive by taking part or taking lead on some of the activities.
