Three Brooks parkrun inaugral run report

Share me

Today I ticked off one of many, many parkrun challenges… to run a parkruns first event! I was torn with going as I am running a marathon relay tomorrow so needed to rest but I couldn’t pass up this opportunity.

So we got up early and headed off down to Three Brooks which is sort of North Bristol/South Gloucestershire at the Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve, BS32 9BJ.

Three Brooks parkrun

Course description: The course is an anti clockwise out and back double loop, starting near the picnic tables in the Nature Reserve. The course is fairly flat and consists of natural compacted paths.

First timers briefing

The first timers briefing was for everyone as this was the Three Brooks very very first event! There were a few milestones and first time parkrunners but also a plea to please stay away unti the autumn so the parkrun has time to settle in and not upset the locals as the prevoius one had.

Three Brooks parkrun route

The route was all on lightly gravelled trail paths which was nice underfoot but I guess there could potentially be puddles in areas if you get rain the night before. It is a nice enough course and probably good for a PB if you are a speedier runner.

From what I understand from other runners, there used to be an event nearby by locals got upset and eventually it was stopped. So this one has been a long time in the making to replace it – so well done to everyone that made it happen!
